Q. How do i pay for my Rental?

A. Payment can be made by Bank Transfer, Cash payment to our office or by Demand Draft / Cheque. All payments should be free and clear of any withholding tax and deduction. Bank charges, if any, for remittance (by remitting bank or by intermediary bank) would be strictly borne by payer.

Q. What is the minimum age that you can rent a car?

A. Sikkim Taxis Rent A Car rents to qualified drivers 21 years old and older. If you are under 25 year old an additional fee may be imposed. See our Policies and Procedures section for more information.

Q. Can I rent a car without a reservation??

A. Yes, as long as a vehicle is available in the station; however, we recommend making a reservation because no vehicle may be available during busy periods.

Q. For how many days can I reserve a rental car?

A. We accept reservations for a rental period of one (1) month at most.

Q. Can my pet ride in the car?

A. Yes. Apply by telephone if you intend to travel with a pet. Please make sure to mention that you will be traveling with a pet when making a reservation (vehicle models that can carry pets differ among rental stations, so online applications will not be accepted). We may refuse to rent out a vehicle even if you have a reservation, so please mention this in advance.

Q. Can I arrange for the car to be delivered to a train station or hotel?

A. Yes. Certain rental stations operate a delivery and pick-up service for railway stations and hotels. The available services and fees vary in accordance with the region and the rental period.

Q. What should I do if I damage the car?

A. In the event of accidents resulting in damage to the vehicle during the rental period, the user shall be required to pay the non-operation charge (NOC) as partial compensation for the loss of earnings incurred for repairs, regardless of the degree of damage or the length of time required for repairs.
The non-operation charge (NOC) is different from the deductible (paid by the user) in the insurance and compensation system, which is applied in the event of accidents. Please note that this sum is to be paid even if you are subscribed to the Safety Package.

Q. Is there a speed limit to which I need to adhere to ?

A. As per the Central Government directive, all self-drive vehicles are fitted with a speed governor (speed limiting device) which limits the cars not to go beyond a certain prescribed limit and the same varies from state to state.

Q. What do I do in case the car gets stolen?

A. Launch a police complaint immediately and a copy of intimation letter acknowledged by the police authorities/ FIR needs to be submitted to Sikkim Taxis.

Q. What type of driving license is required?

A. To rent a car, you need to have a valid and a clean Indian driving license that covers the vehicle rented by you. This license needs to be held by you for at least one year.
